Responsible for supporting the ThorCan team in executing the vision and strategy of the company, Neil leads with passion, drive and energy. Since starting ThorCan in 2017, he has been focused on creating a culture of safety, service and accountability, while constructing the premier team in the industry. Neil has been in the refractory industry for over 28 years having held different positions across Canada and has experience in all industries.

Responsible for managing business finances and operations, George ensures effective implementation of the ThorCan strategy. With 20 years in senior financial, operations and general management in Petro Chemical and Construction, George has a holistic understanding of what is required to optimize organizational performance. George has his Bachelor of Business Administration and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Safety first for all projects large and small is Matt’s commitment always putting valued employees and clients first. With 15+ years of experience in safety excellence in the Refractory Industry, Matt’s top focus is a goal of Zero incident/ injuries. Matt’s been a part of successful large scale Petrochemical industry projects across Canada from Coast to Coast along with many projects in Cement/ Fertilizer/ Steel and Paper to name a few. Bringing industry best practices and incorporating new ideas from a global perspective ensures ThorCan continues to be a world class health & safety leader.

Responsible for managing operations in Western Canada, Cody oversees Office Management, Sales Management and Projects. With 14 + years in the refractory industry, Cody excels in managing people and processes to ensure project goals are met. Cody has completed the Trowel Trades Training Association – Bricklayer training and has received the API 936 Refractory Inspection Certificate #58672 - American Petroleum Institute (API – 2015).

Responsible for the Regional operations which include, safety, project execution, overseeing the sales, estimating, proposals, client management, administration, profitability and growth. Shawn has successfully managed projects from initial contract through to closure in the Cement, Lime, Steel, Non-ferrous, Petro Chemical and Incineration industries. Shawn has received his Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists and his API 936 Refractory Inspection Certificate.

Responsible for managing large refractory projects safely and efficiently from the initial bid process to job completion, Vance oversees planning, organizing, monitoring, execution and cost control. With 20 years in the refractory industry, Vance has successfully managed numerous Capital, Maintenance and Expansion projects in the Petrochemical, Cement and Paper industry. Vance received his Professional Technologist (PTech) designation through the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineers, Technicians and Technologists. In addition, Vance has numerous certifications in Safety, Inspections, Auditing and Cost Control.

At the forefront of complex projects, Martin uses his engineering expertise to analyse and develop a project plan with the goal of reducing the total cost of ownership. Martin has 25 years of experience in the industry and a deep commitment to building a culture of safety, quality, efficiency, worker engagement and continuous improvement. Martin has his P. Eng. and regularly attends API 936 and Downstream conferences to learn and adopt leading refractory technology advancements.

Responsible for IT, Communications and liaising with offices to ensure standardization and implementation of best practices, Michelle ensures continuous improvement is embedded in the ThorCan culture. With 25 + years in administrative and customer experience roles, Michelle is the go-to administrative resource for the Executive and Project Management Team.
